Sashinungla
2012-13 NAF Scholarship Recipient
I am a 3rd year PhD student at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, in the field of History of Christianity, preparing for my comprehensives. I am married (my husband is also a student) and have two lovely girls, aged 9 and 5. Prior to coming to Luther, I served as Assistant Professor at Oriental Theological Seminary (Nagaland), and am currently on study leave. Previously, I served as a Junior Lecturer in Trinity Theological College, Dimapur, and Senate of Serampore College, West Bengal, India, in 1997-98 and 2000-2001, respectively. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master of Theology from Clark Theological College, Mokokchung, Bishops’ College, Kolkata, and Eastern Theological College, Jorhat.
In the midst of great financial stress, I am exceedingly encouraged by the generosity of the Naga American Foundation as I receive the 2012-2013 NAF Scholarship with much gratitude! The NAF’s desire to support Naga/Naga American students toward greater success is highly commendable. Honestly, this scholarship award will significantly ease our family’s stress as I juggle with family, work, and studies, which are all equally important to me at the moment. I would also like to let the NAF family know that this scholarship is not only a source of temporary relief, but that it fosters my desire of going back home as soon as possible to resume my teaching obligation and realize my commitment to balancing academic integrity and applied Christian ministry in my endeavor to train future leaders and pastors for Christian ministry. Thank you!
