Joanna Angumei
Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient
Hello, my name is Joanna Angumei and I am a freshman undergraduate student at Elmhurst University in Illinois. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Music Education as a vocal music education major in which I will be able to teach choir, orchestra, and band from grades Pre-K through 12. I am still considering my options, but I have discovered a love through music that I am excited to pursue as either a minor or major throughout my college years no matter what I do.
I am very grateful to Naga American Foundation for providing this scholarship, as it will be helpful in paying my tuition. I love you all and I appreciate the support and I hope you continue to pray for me as I move forward. Thank you.

I would first and foremost like to thank the Naga American Foundation for organizing such an opportunity as this to help fellow Naga students in the US. Being far away from home has definitely been hard at times to adjust, to compete in such a global environment, to learn to be financially responsible, and make sure I am making my family proud.
I am a sophomore at Pepperdine University majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Multimedia Design. My interest in the business industry lies in marketing where my goal one day is to work at a marketing firm in the fashion industry, gradually climbing up my rank, hopefully becoming the CEO one day. Coming to America to pursue my higher education has been a dream come true and I thank God for giving me such an opportunity and my parents to be able to support me in my dreams and passion.
Winning this scholarship will definitely help me take care of my educational expenses and a further boost to my journey of knowledge and learning without stressing my finances. Thank you!

Being born and raised in a humble family in a small village called Paorei, Ukhrul, Manipur, India, I sensed a “double portion” of blessings showered from above. For He not only saved me but also brought me to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas in Fall of 2018.
Before I came to Southwestern, while I was wrestling with God for a job, I was illuminated by the word of Isaiah 6:8, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am. Send me!’” At this, I decided to enroll myself in the Seminary, which was against the will of my family initially. Thankfully, they are happy with where I am today.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the NAF for this generous award. This will help me able to pay for the GRE exam, DET exam, etc. for my PhD application process. My humble prayer is to graduate this semester with the Master of Arts in Christian Education and thereafter to enroll in PhD studies in the Fall of 2021.

Hi, my name is Khak Khak Khayi and I’m currently pursuing a master’s degree in Biotechnology at Northwestern University. I'm also in the midst of applying for a doctorate degree in Molecular Biology. I plan to continue learning and growing as a researcher so that I can contribute to my field and community in a meaningful way.
I am extremely grateful for this scholarship, as it will help me cover my daily expenses and support my applications for further studies. It’s a blessing to have the NAF community in America actively supporting Naga students in their academic journey. I hope it continues to motivate and encourage students to apply and take advantage of all the opportunities here. Thank you!
